Common Worship

You can access PDF files of our Common Worship booklets from this page. Some are still in draft, and may well change in due course.

Please note that although these Orders of Service are fully viewable and you can save them on your PC, there are security features which are designed to limit their usefulness outside this parish. The security features mean that Adobe’s PDF-to-text conversion doesn’t work on these files, although the raw text of the booklets is freely available from this page. If you’d like to take advantage of our layouts and formatting, we can email you MS-Word or Publisher files with our styles already set up for a modest fee (to help offset our development costs). Please e-mail for details.

Download the PDF reader from Adobe You need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view PDF files.

You should be able to view all the files in your browser, but the most useful thing to do is to save them on your computer for future reference. Right-click the link and select Save Target As... or Save Link As... to save the file on to your computer for display later.

Common Worship has its own website.

About the booklets

The booklets are A4 in size, folded lengthways, with a 240gsm card cover of the colour of the season (the Traditional Language booklet doesn’t have much seasonal material, but does contain pointers to where the text will change during the year). Large-print booklets, in the same format but with twice the number of pages, are being prepared. The PDF files show red rubrics, but we produced the booklets on a black-and-white laser printer, so the printed rubrics are in fact in 100% black. The images included in the booklets are taken from Times & Seasons, drawn by Peter Edwards and published by McCrimmons. We tried to keep the “look-and-feel” of Derek Birdsall’s Common Worship layout by setting the titles and rubrics in Gill Sans, while using Plantin for the body text. Plantin is widely regarded as one of the most legible typefaces.

There are separate President’s editions, which are produced as an A4 page size in larger type. These books do have printed red rubrics.

The services contain traditional prayers and other material in addition to the Common Worship text.

If you have any queries about the booklets, please e-mail us.

Other items available
We have introduced a form of sacramental Confession and Reconciliation (A4 card, laminated)
And a card with the Angelus and Regina Caeli (A6 card, double-sided)
And a card with the Priest’s vesting prayers (A4 card, laminated)
And a card for use in the Diocese of Chichester with the name of the Bishop (A4 card, laminated) If you’re not in Chichester diocese, email us with the name of your bishop (and, if possible, the diocesan coat of arms) and we’ll make one for you, too. The arms of the Diocese of Chichester were drawn by Carl-Alexander von Volborth; the prayers are adapted from an ACS publication.
