A Vision for the Future

The only time you can gain access is for a few hours a week during service times. The church seems lifeless and many people in the surrounding community speak of it and its activities mainly in the past tense.

Whether we like it or not, the church no longer has the impact it once had. Our young people have had little or no experience of Church life and the community of Seaside has become more culturally diverse and cosmopolitan. We have a growing community of asylum seekers with which the Church has no natural lines of communication.

Being in the heart of a neglected community must spur us on with some imagination to become the symbol and focal point of community life — all the right ingredients are here. The Church, if it is to reach the disenchanted and those for whom the Church’s life and worship is alien, has to start thinking and acting differently. Our church building is one of our greatest assets and needs to be used to its full potential.
